The tour will stop in other cities including New York, Los Angeles, Denver and Las Vegas.With a book by Ben Elton, the original West End production opened in 2002 and featured music supervision from Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor. Elton fashioned the futuristic story around such Queen hits as “We Are the Champions,” ”Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We Will Rock You.”The producers say the musical “reflects the scale and spectacle that marked Queen’s live performances.”Casting for the tour is underway.Tickets go on sale Friday.The Associated Presslast_img read more

first_imgFamagusta Avenue Garage, a new grass-roots community-led space in Dherynia, is hosting a ‘Fun day’ for adults and children this Sunday to raise funds to turn an old garage into a space for community projects for intercommunal groups from both sides of the divide.Formerly a car repair garage, the now unused space was donated by a local family for community use.With the help and support of the Dherynia municipality and a number of groups and organisations such as Rooftop Theatre Group, the Famagusta youth and sports municipal centre (Magem), the Famagusta Cultural Association and the Famagusta Pasaj, a collective of individuals have formed a committee that will work towards renovating and developing a space that can cater to all types of initiatives, workshops and creative events.The Famagusta Avenue Garage project also aspires to connect old historical and community links in the district.“We celebrate difference and diversity, together with all the communities of Cyprus, not excluding but including all persons and groups regardless of age, nationality, language, gender, or abilities,” the group said in a press release.The event, taking place from 3pm to 8pm, will feature dance and craft workshops for both adults and children, while visitors will have the opportunity to buy local craft items and food and drinks.There will also be an exhibition of art works be available for purchase.In the evening, local music acts, Veronica Alonefti and Christina Polycarpou, as well as the reggae/rock band Ado Kado, will be contributing to the fundraiser with their unique acoustic sounds. DJ Radio Pangea will finish off the evening’s entertainment.“Since we opened the Famagusta Avenue Garage on July 9 to the local community, we have had such a keen interest from not just locals from Dherynia but also individuals and groups in Famagusta, and across Cyprus.
