first_img WHITTIER – The Whittier Public Library, 7344 Washington Ave., will feature a lecture on the history of fans at its monthly “Lunch at the Library” program from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Free dental checks for kids available LA MIRADA – Free dental screenings for youngsters in La Mirada’s Positive Alternatives and Recreation for Kids program will be offered from 3 to 4 p.m., beginning June 1 at Gardenhill Park, 14435 Gardenhill Drive. The program will also be held on July 6 at Windemere Park, 15261 Cheshire St., and Aug. 3 at Frontier Park, 13212 Marquardt Ave. Youngsters will be evaluated for oral hygiene, obvious signs of decay, bite and tooth alignment. Neighborhood picnic Saturday WHITTIER – The Arco store, 1400 E. Lambert Road, will host its third annual neighborhood picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m Saturday. There will be free burgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks, as well as music and the Coors Girls. City offering Dodgers tickets SANTA FE SPRINGS – Residents can purchase tickets through the city to the June 16 Los Angeles Dodgers game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Dodger Stadium. Tickets are $5 per person, which includes bus transportation and a lunch voucher redeemable for one Dodger Dog, a soft drink and chips. Game time is 12:55 p.m.; buses will leave at 10 a.m. Tickets are available at Town Center Hall, Los Nietos Park, Santa Fe Springs Park, Lakeview Park and Little Lake Park. Summer party for youths planned LA MIRADA – A summer beach party for sixth- to 12th-graders will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. June 8 in the Basement Youth Center in the La Mirada Resource Center, 13710 La Mirada Blvd. Music, food, movies and prizes will be included. Children’s health fair scheduled SANTA FE SPRINGS The city and the Intercommunity Child Guidance Center of Whittier will host a children’s health fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 2 at Heritage Park Sculpture Garden, 12100 Mora Drive. Members of Chivas USA will be on hand to demonstrate soccer techniques. There will also be a fun zone with a variety of games. Admission is free.
