Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate ministers

first_imgNigeria is finally set to instate the new government when President Muhammadu Buhari formally assigns roles to the 36 ministerial nominees approved by Parliament. The announcement by Buhari will bring to an end 166 days during which he solely governed Africa’s leading economy and the most populous nation. The inauguration is scheduled to take place in his official residence, Aso Rock, in the country’s capital, Abuja.Buhari’s main focus since taking over power in May has been the fight against Islamist extremist militants Boko Haram, and launching an anti-corruption drive. The lack of ministers has however given a sense of political limbo and created uncertainty in the business world.Noteworthy, Buhari said that he will take charge of the oil ministry, in order to oversee reforms in the notoriously murky sector at a time of low global crude prices that have hurt government revenues badly.last_img read more
